Site camera advice needed

Recommended Posts

I know this has been asked before but I can’t find the answer I am looking for. Quite a few of the posts are a few years old.
I am looking for some site security camera for a house I’m building. It is onside a country road, it’s very rural but a busy enough road. The foundations have started. I have electricity on site but no internet.  We live about 10 minutes from the site so site security is going to be a worry. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

Welcome .....

On Buildhub:

Search > in body and  titles >  " Site cameraresults

Search > in titles only > "Site camera" results

Search > in body and titles > "camera" results

Search > in titles only > "cameraresults

Via a search engine ( in this case Google - others work just as well.)

Search >buildbub.org.uk [insert space] camera

I took everyone's advice ( as listed above)  but also hid a trail camera.

Biggest problem for any camera ?  Rain. Hide the camera under cover.

Wishing you a safe hassle free build

Ian

When I have searched for previous feeds on this topic they seem to either be for houses that are built and have wifi. Or building plots with no electricity or anything. That’s why I was asking if anyone could give me ideas for a camera when we have electricity but no internet.

Hi John,

I'm looking to potentially do similar.

Maybe look at the Hikvision AX Pro, i haven't got one myself but looks like it could work as it says it will work of ethernet, wifi OR a GPRS/3G/4G sim. I'm guessing you would need a control panel £120, and then you can add to your system as you like, a wireless PIR system camera £95.

And once your house is up you can use it as your main security system by adding door sensors, PIRs etc.

Again, I have never used it so don't know if it works as I imagine but its an avenue you could explore. Maybe ring up a supplier and ask them.

Thanks,

Rob

I'm using a Huawei 4g router which costs £15 a month unlimited data on a cheapo provider but works well. Camera is a Imou life model which is powered and connects via the wifi enabled router. The camera model is "LOOC". I paid for their cloud storage so have 30 days motion triggered recordings always available. I didn't do much setup and don't seem to get false alarms on recordings. Can connect on my phone and see what is going on at any time - pic quality is great.
