m4tth3wb
Hi all, Does anyone know how I go about changing my deeds from land to a house? I've been to my solicitors but they are absolutely hopeless saying they cannot find my deeds and just fobbing me off. Is it something I can do myself? Thanks Matt
ProDave
Do you need to change anything? My present house and the new one under constructions were bought as building plots so "land". When I eventually sell the present house I will just let my solicitor take care of any changes needed at the time. But under the UK law, you don't buy a "house" you buy a oiece of land with whatever happens to be upon it at the time of sale, so I question is there actually any need to change anything? TerryE
Yup, we registered our house last year for the first time, and ignoring the long story around that, when this was all done and dusted, our solicitor send us our original deeds as "these are of historic interest only!" Once your plot is registered with the LRO, the only time that the deeds might be useful is if you got into a legal dispute with a neighbour, say, over a boundary, and even then the assumption is that the LRO document is correct unless you prove otherwise.
