BishBashBosh2020
Hi All, Might be a bit of an odd post for this forum but hoping someone can help. I have a 80kg boxing bag which i want to hang from from garage wall. The wall is a single brick wall, around 14ft high and 20ft in length. I have purchased a custom made hanging bracket which can hold up to 200kg. The bracket has 6 fixing points. I have also purchased shield anchor M8 bolts to fix the bracket to the wall. I personally did not see an issue with hanging the bag from the wall but a friend of mine (no building experience) has made me paranoid as he thinks it may be to much weight to hang from the wall. Does anyone else think this may be an issue? Edited May 27, 2020 by BishBashBosh2020
joe90
If the bracket is designed fir the bag then no, it’s fine. BUT it depends on the bricks, some are full of holes inside so the anchors may not hold!!!, I would try it, and fit the top holes into the mortar bed between bricks (which should not have any voids). Mr Punter
As per @Vijay, threaded bar and resin would be better but as you already have the shield anchors, try them. If they start to fail, use the resin fixings.

I ask because using a punch bag hanging on a wall means damage if it's used. I've never used a boxing bag, maybe that's different... From a joist, or noggins fastened across several joists, 80kg is fine.
