Solar water heating.

Hi,

Just finishing off my Nissen Hut, have sink with cold water, was wondering if it would be possible to have a solar thermal system providing hot water when possible for washing hands etc,

Is this possible, what sort of storage tank / system, would be required?

I would think you could either roll your own, or buy something off the shelf designed for a boat or caravan.

 

But I would expect that solar PV would be less buggeration-ful over time.

PV is the easier and probably cheaper option.  Could even charge a battery and run your lights off it.

There are 12v immersion heaters you can use with small p.v. setups. Haven't tried it myself.

Cheaper to use regular modules and a cheap inverter.

Less Volts, More Amps, Bigger Switches.
