davidk
Had a read of a previous post on BH where people were discussing the various benefits of velux/fakro/keylight roof windows and was wondering if anyone had any updated opinions? architect has specified a velux integra CVP 100100 0673 QVA with curved glass cover ISD 100100 1093 for the utility room in our extension. Priced on Velux and it’s £1400 + vat, am I just kidding myself looking at other cheaper options and better going for velux off the bat? Cheers! wozza
Cant comment if there are better out there, but shop around, you will get them much cheaper. The curved glass will probably be as much as the window - can you go with a flat one? Velux have double rewards at the moment (Cash back vouchers) Edited February 27, 2020 by wozza
bassanclan
Curved and flay are about the same price, curves often cheaper. The savings could be made by specifying smaller or a non opening or non electric or by buying something that someone has bought incorrectly https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153743896469
davidk
Thanks @wozza and @bassanclan, had planned to shop about and eBay is definitely a good shout. Only drawback are the delivery restrictions being based in Belfast, anywhere I’ve tried don’t deliver to my little backwater.
dpmiller
I've been well impressed with our keylite polars, easy to get down from Cookstown.
bassanclan
I recently fitted both Velux and Keylite in a house. I would say Velux had the slight edge, but not a lit to choose between them. This was for a pitched roof, I havnt fitted the flat roof type.
davidk
@dpmiller thanks I’ll give them a second look and I’m sure I could make the trip from Dundonald to Cookstown ok ? I’ll do more investigations into their flat roof lights.
dpmiller
They'll deliver... Whereabouts are you? I grew up in Ferndene (off the Comber Road) and dad's still there...
davidk
We’re in Coopers Mill, thought about moving but struggled to find anything we really liked in East/South Belfast. We’re one of the lucky ones with no one over looking us at the back and have a decent back garden so decided to stay put and put a kitchen/diner extension and utility room on. dpmiller
sounds like a plan. Greengraves/ Millmount has changed so much since I was a nipper scrambling on the Barley Fields.
