LA3222
Just had a quote come back: Approx 3000 dense blocks and 3000 bricks. The majority of the blocks form a plinth at the bottom of the house with a bit of dentil/corbel detailing at the top. The blocks just go everywhere else ready for a render finish. Quotes so far: 1. Block £17m2, Brick £600 per thou. 2. Block £16m2, Brick £650 per thou & detailing £13.50m. 3. All in - £21,500. Two of the prices are similar - the third? epsilonGreedy
I assume this is a delivered price and ex VAT? How fancy are your facing plinth bricks? The blocks look expensive, I purchased really heavy blocks (20kg) well under a £1 a year back so call it £9 per meter. More recently mid range blocks (15kg) were around £1.15 a block. I will ping my favourite BM in Boston and ask if he delivers as far out as you. Edited January 24, 2020 by epsilonGreedy
PeterW
So there is 300sqm of blockwork and the 3000 bricks based on that. First two are not far off what I pay for labour - usually add £10/m for detail on soldier heads etc. Last one by my calculation is £65/m to lay blocks ......... even if he includes the materials, he’s well off the mark !! The third one made my eyes boggle when I read it!
