albert
Hi I'm considering exposing the underside of my I joists and although we have done this in the past with solid joists without a problem I wondered what the regs are on joists and ceiling materials in a kitchen area. Clear fire retarders are available to give me 30 min but not sure how the BCO will view this? Any advice appreciated. A
Tony C
Hi, my build is just about to start and the house has some exposed Douglas fir joist. My house is only being single storey , we did not need to apply any treatment on the wood joist. Do you have upstairs above the kitchen? I assume you will need to apply the fire instrument vanish to the wood, but I am not specialist, and this would be something specific to your house design layout. You may find that you need to treat exposed timber to stop spread of flame not make it fire proof, we are single storey and this is what bc have asked for.
