ProDave Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 This may be of interest to some in the vicinity of Inverness / Ross-Shire. I had the heads up from a joiner I was working with yesterday that a new independant builders merchant has just started up in Alness. So I went there today. They have only been going about 2 weeks, so their stock is a bit basic but they are clearly building up the stock and were very happy to show me around. I ordered some chipboard and plywood from them, total cost was £271, Jewsons had previously quoted me £320. Hopefully this will give us some cheaper material for the rest of the build, and they are closer for us. 2
Ed Davies Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Interesting. Name? Where are they? Doubt I'd use them a huge amount but might be a handy place to try before carrying on to Inverness for stuff which is a bit awkward in Caithness. A PM would be handy if you feel it's not appropriate to say it publicly.
nod Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Something that we take for granted around here A friend of our has converted and extended a cottage on the Welsh borders He said his biggest challenge Was the forty mile round trip to the BM Collect his timber and realise he’d needed a box of screws He previously lived in Wolverhampton So a real shock to the system
