I need to hang a radiator (160cm wide, 50cm high, total weight around 35kg) via two brackets to a plasterboard wall. The wall is external, so that it has studs (about 12mm deep and 50mm wide) behind the plasterboard and then bricks behind the studs. I am lucky enough to have studs in correspondence of my brackets. However, I was wondering whether the 12mm depth of the studs would be enough for the screws to bite, or if I should reach to the bricks behind the studs and fix the brackets to them. If I can use the studs, how do I make sure that the screws go through the whole 12mm, given that this will be prevented by them hitting the bricks? Thanks.

We have an old concrete slab, and hope to have UFH. The ex builder placed stud walls onto the floor, sitting on DPM (after initially saying they would lay it onto a brick course). If the visible DPM plus another on the floor in each room is lapped up the walls, it will encase the bottom part of the timber wall in plastic. Will that be ok? It seems to me it will get condensation and rot the wood at the bottom? Said builder will never come back to rectify (I have waited 6 months for other bits and given up). Thank you!

Any recommendations for decent sound insulation between stud wall partitions? Or are they all about the same? Any tips most gratefully appreciated. Already planning to use soundbloc 15mm plasterboard everywhere. Would anyone recommend sticking 20mm PIR on one side of the stud walls as well or is that overkill?

My design is moving on and I now have an ICF supplier (wall and slab) (Econekt) and a Structural Engineer is working out all the details, which means I have 3-4 support posts (Steel) within the original internal wall structure, 2 x steel beams and 250mm thick Widespan planks to make up the first floor (8.6m spans). What this means is that all my internal walls can now be anything, ICF / Block / Stud, with no requirements for thermal insulation the question is what will provide me the best sound insulation?
