  1. reply to an old post but... our intumescent paint was hydroscopic and irreversibly so - it went white on contact with water or humidity. The misses once hung a damp towel over a coated door and that door forever had a ghostly white sheen, the supplier said that it was a one way street and sand and re-apply was the only option. Of course, we left it
  2. I had problems with our stick built timber frame with the "normal" insurers , which wasn't helped by being on a flood plain ruled out even more. Eventually called NFU who couldn't have been easier to work with and much to my surprise, cheap to the point that I had to confirm if it was monthly or annual
  3. arguably it would only be tested in court if it fell down...
  4. depends on the unit. smaller models are 125mm, larger ones like the Plus are 150mm. I just measured some offcuts and the 125 is about 129 externally and the 150 is about 155mm so can't see why a 160mm sleeve in effect would be a problem as long as the 160 refers to the internal diameter
