  1. We have a dishwasher so washing will be minimal. I was thinking of covering the bottom in tinting film which will hopefully create a barrier.
  2. Hi all We have a potential problem we have had some wall cabinets installed fairly low above our quooker boiling tap. Below the wall panels we also had it rebated for an LED light profile. Today we tried the tap and due to the steam that was emitted, it left a considerable amount of condensation on the bottom of the unit. I am concerned long term as the rebated panel above is not sealed. Is there anyone that has faced the same issue and is there any good fix?
  3. The fitter used FBall F46 I think. It didn’t seem too heavy duty.
  4. Ours is glue down, not floated.
  5. Thank you, I appreciate the help.
  6. In the end, we used scrapers, wire brushes and a mop with warm water. Took some hard work but got there in the end without a load of dust or expense.
  7. I am thinking of ordering this. Proster Surface Grinding Dust Shroud for 5 Inch Angle Grinder with 125mm Diamond Grinding Cup Wheel https://amzn.eu/d/0D6P8Ly that maybe the quickest way of getting this done. And will try the warm water with a scourer too.
  8. That what I was fearing. Would any kind of paint stripper liquid help loosen it up?
  9. it was some dulux diamondmatt. Warm water and a scourer you think? wanted to have it done over the weekend so hire of a machine maybe tricky.
  10. I hoping someone has an idea for a quick fix. Looking to lay a load of LVT down but before the FBall feathering gear goes down we have an issue. . The decorators when spraying the walls didn’t cover the concrete floor. So the floor is caked in overspray (seem to have got more on the floor than the walls and ceiling 😂) Any idea for quick removal with minimum dust. (The walls have been painted and the kitchen is fitted) A scraper does work but there is around 80sq m to do over this weekend so don’t fancy scraping it.
  11. Would putting the fabric over the MOT before the mortar mix help?
  12. We had initially intended to go for natural stone. But have now decided to go for porcelain tiles. However, we have already had the 100mm MOT down with no fabric. Is there any major issues that could occur? The paved area will only have foot traffic.
  13. We have rendered our house a dark grey at the back so dark grey porcelain would look pretty good. I feel like both would look okay with the render we have. I want to get whatever is considered the best regards maintenance and longevity etc.
  14. We are going to have a 6m x 5m patio area laid and a 40m long path around 1m wide laid. We are debating whether to use Porcelain Tiles or something like an Indian Sandstone/Brazilian Slate. What would be the best long-term, and the potential pro and cons?
  15. Is something like this okay? I think we have some of this already.
  16. I think this needs bedding or wedi want their glue used. But it’s pricey.
  17. We are looking to joint our cement boards with some wedi tape (pictured) around the shower and bath areas. What is the best stuff to use to bed it? Is the Wedi 610/620 necessary as it is expensive.
  18. Well noticed, We have some curtains which will hang from a ceiling track, during the day we wanted the curtains tucked back out of the way of the doors. The kitchen company designed and supplied the worktop, it is a compressed laminate top so has been factory cut and edged, so could probably be done but would have to go back to the factory and then be done there.
  19. My softener is made by Kinetico. They have stated that whilst their softened water may taste a tiny bit salty. This is due to some ionisation, not due to salt being added to the water. They advised if I wanted to improve the taste then I could add a filter which contains some coconut product which will neutralise that taste.
  20. I wasn't aware of that. Does it have to be the Quooker filter/scale reducer or can it be any? As I assume the Quooker one won't filter salt, and we already have scale reduction as a result of our water softener
  21. We are in the midlands and don't have very hard water. We decided to put it in to minimise scale in the whole system. The plumber hasn't installed one of these before therefore he overlooked some details I assume. It is possible to change the plumbing to bypass the softener and then add salt to the dishwasher and an inline filter. However, due to having a black sink I am concerned about scale marks so I think a filter before the Quooker tap would work best. I will look into ion exchange and reverse osmosis.
  22. If it has been up to 5mm I don't think I would be so bothered, but 20mm is a lot.
  23. As we went for a handless kitchen putting handles on is something we don't really want to do. I am inclined to bite the bullet and get a new worktop that is the exact right dimension. Due to the colour and the finish of the units I am not concerned about fingerprints.
  24. You have a serious set up. My plumber hasn't been as through as that. I think having a sink filter before the tap is the way to go on this. Will what you have remove salt?
