Decided on a retirement project to build a house, doing most of work ourselves, trades for plumbing, electrics, plastering.
Timber frame and doors/ windows fitted by others, groundwork and rest by us with some family help who has some experience in building.
We have used local western red cedar bit of movement a few knots but makes it interesting, milled from trees ourselves, surplus stock if anyone interested
Just render below western red cedar cladding was going to take to floor but changed mind.
Cladding taken from trees to boards by us, have extra if anyone needs any
Ammonia smell from borehole was cured by a neighbour putting milking parlour cleaner down hole and flushing it out leaving for a wee week and water ok again
We have four rationel doors fitted and windows for that matter, no problem with windows and are great, slight problem with door handles, 2 are wobbly and loose told by manufacturer that wobbly is normal, other two are rock solid as would expect from new doors, suggestions please
We got a Q on a barn and then went for demolish and rebuild, heading into final fix plastering nearly complete.
No real problems except getting trades here and recticel door problems
