I’m sorry to hear about your experience since moving in. Dangerous to assume I know but let’s assume that for the previous owner it has worked for its first 3 years so there shouldn’t really be anything fundamentally wrong with the install. I would be looking at bringing in an ASHP expert. I guess my first port of call would be a Heat Geek assured installer.

Tomato Energy - Anbody using?

All being well you will be fine. Switching to any new supplier over the Winter period will always be interesting because your DD will likely be significantly less than your actual usage, it’s how they react is what matters. -

The devil is in the detail. If you are deducted for something you weren’t given the appropriate notice then of course you can ask for refund and the banking system will ensure you get it back. BUT, if they do give you correct notice then YOU do have to pay. -

only standing orders are fixed. Specified amount on specified day. Although DD typically doesn’t change without you being aware it’s important to understand it can and with appropriate notice they are in charge! -

Variable direct debit is exactly what it says on the tin. Unspecified amounts at unspecified times. They give you the appropriate notice and you will be called upon. Don’t pay, cancel DD etc during dispute or uncertainty and risk being passed over to credit collection and blacklist. -

The original company was formed before the regulator tightened the rules for new suppliers joining. Over the years they’ve changed their name more times than you’ve had hot dinners (well ok currently on 3rd name), Directors seem to be in and out of a revolving door and are no stranger to OFGEM investigations. 💩💩💩 -

They’ve got failed supplier written all over them so another SoLR waiting in the wings and more costs added to consumers in the long run. No thanks. -
Are you all generally happy with your Panasonic units?

Hi @gmarshall Are you getting all your data from the installer service cloud? We have the same unit being installed next month and I'm registered for this in preparation! Thanks.

Prior to finalising the ASHP contract I experimented with different temperatures in the existing DHW cylinder. Down to 40 DegC the shower was working fine. Certainly had to turn the mixer with more heat but no complaints from anyone in the house.

L9 Error - Flow rate - Ecodan 8.5kW ASHP

Has your system been maintained annually? If yes then I would contact Mitsubishi directly and explain the situation. They may send one of their engineers directly to you and resolve under warranty. -
Type of RCD required for HP
The Bin Man replied to sharpener's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
The Panasonic 12kW I could be getting quotes a 30A breaker with 30mA 2P Type A RCD for the compressor and a 30A breaker 30mA 2P Type AC RCD for the backup heater. Both will be off sub boards. I was told installers don't tend to like touching existing installed equipment and prefer to install sub-boards. Perhaps your spec is specific to the Arotherm+? -
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately no indication from instructions or sign of adjustment on the cartridge design I have. Mine are a design that’s over 20 years older so perhaps before lower temp supply temperatures were even a consideration. I’m going to run a few tests this weekend with the DHW cylinder set to lower temperatures and find out where the sweet spot is.

Hi. Reading this topic with interest as I'm in the final stages of ASHP planning and wasn't aware of this potential issue. I have Aqualisa thermostatic mixers (not digital) which quote a hot water supply temp of 55-65 DegC. The ASHP will be an Ecodan 8.5kW with Ecodan 250 litre cylinder. Am I to read from this that it's likely I will always need a top up to the DHW cylinder temp from the immersion element? Or will the ASHP need to use additional electrical power to achieve required minimum temps? Or worse change the showers? Thanks in advance.

Just wondering but does the cooling only work effectively with UFH systems? Can radiators make an effective contribution?
