  1. What's happened is I started work with a builder who's the neighbour. Gave him cash as he wanted to be paid like this. Now the foundations have been laid but he started building a block n beam floor which turned out all wrong, not correct height etc. The brick work hasn't started above dpc. Lost money on job, to expensive for me to switch builders. The main wall of side of house was knocked out to make entrance into new extension. Neighbour is also causing me grief wanting a party wall if I continue and wants surveyors involved. If I dont do this he said he will get solicitors involved to put a injunction against build Incase it effects the foundations of his house. My only option is to try and put the main wall back but the old wall didn't have cavity. The new wall if rebuilt has to have insulation 90mm. I'm worried it will bring the wall out in wrong place, or the foundations cause a problem as the block n beam was dug in which I will have to take out first. Dnt know what to do asbits mentally stressing me out. Helppp
  2. They told me as its a new wall being built and not existing it's needs to confer to current standards, along with any new windows...
  3. The reason he was saying I need a pwa is because I excavated within 3 metres of the boundary. So because I started excavated earlier before the pwa does not apply retrospectively?
  4. The steel was put in for support incase the extension happened. I'm trying to put the house back after the builder wrecked it
  5. He's talking about my exvacation being 3 or 6m close to his...
  6. He basically not happy I've gone elsewhere, and wants to dispute me building so just looking to cause trouble. So he's talking about me getting surveyors
  7. A main wall was take out, from the 60s. Had no cavity inside. Now under BR if I was to build this wall back up out of block work with 90mm insulation as I believe that's what required, it will bring the wall out to deep and not in line with the existing brick work due to having cavity. So what's the work around
  8. Yea I stopped thr work at foundation level. But I need to restart the works with someone else...
  9. So am I still able to put the extension up from the footings. Or is that seen as I should serve a notice first? I understand you saying it can't be enforced after, but me putting the extension up is still seen like the footings, it can't be enforced?
  10. No neighbour was the builder. He did the digging to my footings. Then we stopped works due to other issues between us. Now he wants a party wall agreement
  11. I've dug foundations 800 down very close to the boundary but on my side of the fence. Neighbour was doing extension and dug my footings. Now work is not continuing he wants me to do a party wall agreement. The building has not gone up but the footings have been dug . What should I do?
  12. This is the problem I have, if I put in 90mm insulation the new wall won't tie in with existing, as it will come out to thick. So what can I do?
  13. Do I need engineering bricks for the pad stones to sit on?
  14. Also was there is a wall plate at the front of that roof as it slopes down, you can kind of see it in the top left pic, does that need to be supported in any way
  15. It's just roof space above there I can't see in the drawing where it says anything about positioning. But I know it was done to keep the ceiling height the same in new extension as that flat roof will join onto this.. I'm just worried about all the weight being on the joists? Is that a issue?
  16. This steel is spanning 10m across the whole house and is sitting above joists level. It will have a flat roof in the extension joining onto it. I don't understand why it is above joists level, is that OK? Also is the padstone OK, the way it's sitting upright?

  18. Not building anything, just will have to build the original wall back up to bc standards.
  19. Was there a long wait time for this application?
  20. I won't be going ahead and building any of the side rooms in the extension or the garage conversion. The main side wall was knocked out and now I want to put it back to how it originally was. None of the extension has actually been built, the block and beam was out in which will now be used as a patio
  21. had full planning for a side extension, we dug footings, put the steel and knocked main side wall out. Due to problems we now want to stop and put the original wall back to how it originally was in first place. Building control have signed footings and steel off already, can we just simply go ahead and build the original wall back without new planning exactly where it was in first place? Do I need to inform or reapply for permission to do this.
  22. Does the stud work go on after the screed?
  23. Can you do block work?
  24. I have a block and beam floor on a single storey extension. I want to build a internal wall on the block and beam for a bathroom partition. Inside the bathroom I will have a wall hung toilet shower and basin fixed to this internal wall. Is this OK on a block and beam floor?
