  1. Because he was sh!t and in fairness we didn't realise it was going to be so much of an issue and our water quality in terms of hardness has got much worse. Severn Trent have been to the neighbourhood a few times testing it
  2. I don't know enough about whole home water softeners but we suffer terribly. We are consistently descaling the coffee machine and regularly cleaning washing machines etc and citric acid in the loos.
  3. Thanks, I'll look into this as an option rather than the Quooker limescale attachment. Unfortunately it's not just the Limescale, the Quooker had had so many problems (from the pull out hose on the tap leaking to the boiler breaking). Last time we had them out for a service they did lots of other things that apparently needing doing but without asking us telling us of any additional costs and then presented a bill for over £500, needless to say we complained and did not have to pay). It seems some other taps have the water filter/limescale filter on them already which you can just replace every 12 months. I guess we need to make a decision on whether to keep the Quooker or ditch it in favour of a different tap/seperate limescale filter.
  4. Do you have a link for this? Do you mean InSinkErator? https://kitchensinksandtaps.co.uk/h3300-brushed-steel-boiling-hot-water-tap-only
  5. Ahhh so its the same tap? I'll get a price from Howdens too and see if its any different. Can you send me the link for it I can't seem to find it! Thanks
  6. So, we had a Quooker tap along with the cube that came with our kitchen. It's been quite problematic to be honest and expensive though Quooker have been out a few times FOC and sorted it. At the last visit this week they recommended a scale control add on thing at a special offer for £100. Now we have lots of scale issues and the boiling water tank has scaled up badly but if we add this on their replacement cartridges are £90 which need doing 12 to 18 months. The Cube we had needs frequent filter changes at £80 a time too and we drink a lot of filtered water. All the filters seem bespoke and not able to get elsewhere (particularly the Cube which is an older one) and then the co2 cannisters although we have about a dozen of these still unused so hopefully don't need to buy any for a while. I'm so tempted to do away with the whole thing and sell it and get a cheaper replacement where we can get generic filters/scale control filters. We dont really drink fizzy water and whilst I do really like the boiling water tap and filtered water, the filtered water doesn't need to be ice cold, just drinkable! I'm therefore looking at alternatives that have boiling water, filtered water (not necessarily ice cold, tap temp is fine) and something to control the scale as we live in a very hard water area (or at least something that is easy to maintain, clean tank etc. Does anyone have any suggestions? This one has popped up (it also offers free installation too, but this isn’t necessarily a deciding factor). https://fahrenuk.com/4-in-1-boiling-water-taps/celsius-brushed-nickel-swan-neck-4-in-1-boiling-water-tap/ Thanks
  7. Did this late last night with the insulation and today everything's back to normal! Phew.... still going to get it serviced. Think it's around £150 plus vat, but will ring round a few places first.
  8. Thanks I'll do this today with the insulation. We will get it serviced this week anyway, probably long overdue. Meanwhile the cupboard is now empty of mops, buckets and other crap!
  9. Quick question should the black needle be above the red? I'm sure i read it should be. How do I adjust that?
  10. I realise that now, my confusion is it's well over the temp it should be and even if our solar would have diverted lots our immersion would have said no stop at just over 50 degrees as that is what our stat is set at on the immersion.
  11. So stick the probe in, put some insulation inside and then the pipe on? Like this 20250524_191007.mp4
  12. Yes that is set to just over 50 degrees (under that white cover I set the temp myself). That's why I'm confused the screen says 62.6 which must be wrong. Sounds like the ASHP temp sensor is wrong!
  13. Push insulation in after the probe? No why? It didn't have insulation on before. I think the sensor wire may be a bit faulty. Perhaps I damaged it knocking something. What I don't know is if the tank is actually at 62.6 degrees or not but if the temp probe is faulty and says the temp is 62 degrees when its only say 30 degrees it won't trigger thr ASHP to heat the water... guess I will find out when we have a shower later. It was on my radar to get it serviced anyway we haven't had it serviced for 2 years...
  14. We have the tank set to max of juat over 50 degrees so the solic stops diverting and goes to export (very minimum solar today it's bucketing it down).
  15. Think we have some success but I'm not sure what's happening. ASHP is working now for the hot water but it heats it to 62.8 degrees then it goes off. We have only ever had it set to 50 degrees and it goes to 50.5 degrees maximum only even with solar diverting. It seems like for some reason our new temp is set at 62.8 degrees and I'm not sure what I've done to adjust the temp!
  16. Yes it's the ASHP DHW temp screen we are looking at. When the probe thing is out the ASHP DHW screen temp drops rapidly and when we push it back in it increases quickly and keeps increasing (I panicked at 65 degrees and took it out). That's what I'm confused with is how without the ASHP turned on and the probe in is the DHW temp on the ASHP screen increasing? I don't know if we have a seperate immersion control. We have a Solic where any excess diverts to the tank and the Solic had a boost function... I guess that would boost the temp but I don't know if I should keep the probe in or not. It's my own fault the mop bucket is in there and I throw my gym flip flops on top of the tank to dry them and I presume today in between the gym and mopping the floors I've knocked something. We are now emptying the cupboard and trying to work out what's been knocked. It was working yesterday....
  17. I have no idea where the cut out is. I know we set the temp on the tank at about 50 degrees, I think it was under this. I don't know how to turn the manual thermostat on either!
  18. There is an immersion as we have a solic but I'm not sure if that's coming on or not. What I don't know is if that's accurate and we have hot water or its not accurate and we don't! I don't want to leave it in as what's stopping the water heating up and heating up and boiling. Also if I take it out does that mean we lose all our hot water? Or how can we get hot water. Had to happen on a bank holiday weekend 🙄
  19. Just to say there is no hot air blowing from the ASHP and yet the temp is creeping up when I shove that wire thing in... oh god
  20. Help! I just noticed the water temperature had dropped massively and no water was heating up. I must have knocked something. Its this... Pushed it in and the water temperature rapidly increases and won't stop and keeps creeping up. So it goes from one extreme to the other. If I leave the cable out temp it shoots up, if I take it out it drops massively. And that is without the ASHP hot.water turned on so maybe its just showing the temp wrong! Eek what have I done?
  21. I had to comment on here because the start of this gave us some inspiration for building our pallet woodstore.... for anyone who remembers the motorway barrier fence they will know we have a log store outside our bungalow back door but due to the huge amount of wood we had and 50 odd pallets from the block paving we built one at the rear of our garage as we have cut a lot of trees recently so have about 15 ton of wood all split. Lots of screws, brackets and bought the sheeting for the roof. Absolutely solid.... The 'container' next to it was our temp garge but now the garage is built it's not needed but it is stuck there so painted it and using it as additional storage. One day may replace with a greenhouse .... Progress of it is here https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-inkP7iC6L/?igsh=YmNwOXRwaDM0Z3k=
  22. Is it ok to put loo roll etc in it still? Don't want to knacker it.
  23. I believe it is the pump, we have turned it off for now. Builder guy knows someone and they are coming Tuesday. Just what we need 🙄
  24. Help! Just come back off holiday and this thing is making a right old noise rather than the normal humming noise it makes. Can anyone advise if we should just turn it off til we can get someone to look at it or leave it running. VID-20240825-WA0002.mp4
