Not overnight Peter no. I don't know what the room temp is: but even in depth of winters past here, in t'other hopelessly uninsulated room.. I could at least keep warm via huge duvet etc: I never had this terrible core back cold (I still feel an ache now 6+ hrs later, my back is still cold). The ASHP is so innefective I cannot get any room warm, but, putting this aside I can compare this newly thick insulated room with heating off overnight, to the adjacent poorly insulated room with never any heating in... & this room is colder.

Have a very strange one going on in here. Cold. Really really pervasive: I'm waking up 5am spine & legs deeply cold: Ive rarely felt this even in wild camping in NZ in 0*. Its so set in my back Ive been lying on the floor in kitchen with a fan heater on my back.. but cold still there just stuck solid- awful, aching uncomfortable feeling. Last night, all of 7*C so I havent a hope in winter at this rate- & whole point of building this room, was to have ONE well-insulated warm room in the house to hunker down in, & sleep in because the main bedroom was so cold/ no insulation.. but this room definitely feels colder! I'm really struggling to understand this let alone cope with it. 120mm kingspan in all the walls, thicjk rockwool in dividing floor (below carpet), ceiling orange loft fluff, reveals insulated, DG windows & french doors. I haven't got this room warm once yet in evening, the ASHP rads just seem unable to generate enough heat (even with the huuuuge long rad) so I have to wear thermals, scarf & hat all times: day is one thing, & I'm so used to it in the house (you physiologically just get used to cold).. but not at night: I've never felt my back cold like this sleeping in any bed before. How can this possibly be colder than the adjacent room-?!

Im logged in ok, Its just not recognising the email address/ letting me use it, either the new gmail I just created.. or.. my main hotmail one as a test (therefore anyone's I want to send this clip to). Keeps saying 'must be a gmail' but it is just that. I honestly think I've exhausted all efforts. I agree with the BH resident comedian, that it would in fact have been quicker to have posted it.. or by now even cycled with it 87 miles.

Ok thanks/ get the point your making. Thing is it says one tub of celtic will repoint 10mm deep, 1sqm. Ive got like 4x this depth & prolly 2sqm & cant run out: so £80 + £20 fuel.. alot/ I also got little time to fit this drive in tbh. will call tho. Bag, & mix with a red paint mix rod thing end of drill driver-?

Chaps is there anything else apart from this Celtic Sustainables ready mix mortar i can go for? Its 88 m there & back, & if i take out all the rotten grey cement mortar, down to the old earth (i think i shouldn't leave any rotten grey in at all, should i? ).. im gonna need 3 tubs of this, as my depth is often a good 2" with big wide chasms galore to fill. what i mean is, considering its inside, and covered in paint after, i dont need the best looking stuff/ aesthtics are irrelevant.. and it will have protection from frost i think, certainly no rain on. Thanks zh.

Ok found the wee icon share icon. Tells me to put in email address to send, so put in mine ive just created, or my hotmail address.. and both times it says 'must be a gmail account'. So i try again, my new gmail address, same 'no can do' mssg. It gives me option to send - i think - to a similar address, my name but without the numbers i created it with.. & so i send, but to who knows where its gone. this is nigh on impossible it seems to me.

@SteamyTea hi could you help, managed to upload my clip to a new gmail account. I think gmail is a google acc you suggested. I can see my clip, on my new gmail homepage. Good, seems like this successful then. But Ive now no clue how to email this on. thx zh

Ok great thats clear and helpful. Ok will try Onoff smash one again, seemed quicker than other one, tho drop out in signal stopped this try for sure.. then this one. Be a useful thing to be able to use. Appreciated.. zh

Peter have you used this exact stuff from Celtic? 20 kg tub, might equate volumewise to what one of the big nononsense bare plaster paint jobs 16 quid? If you know what i mean.
-
@SteamyTea Ok apologies if you weren't ST.. even if not entirely convinced. So was the bamboo vid showing me how? I could only establish you were showing what i was trying to do 'look i can do it p'easy' but without letting on how, so I couldnt see it as being exactly helping.

@Onoff YES he was!! (of course it was bc pocaster wouldnt have 'liked' it > then 'likes' your having a go at me too doesn't he? I mean ffs if the only contribution to a fkn thread is adding a few likes like this at me its sad/ & trolling I think actually the perfect word too hiding away, sniping. hiding. ffs grow up. his picture says enough afaic). Anyway... yes 3.5 is max here, its often 2.5- 3.5 someone I think said. No joy with we transfer, it stopped just shy of 269mb (263.. takin the p*ss surely). Setting up accounts.. sounds easy, but couldn't do with apple bc its needs a mob phone: ok I now have one, but no signal/ have to go top of the hill (seriously) & its pissing down & the owls are out & might snatch my wig off. I'll google snatch transfer tho.. thanks. zH

@PeterW so emulsion is more breathable than dlx w'shield.. ? and emulsion on lime mortar is ok?
-
How about ST bothering to read page before?
-
I guess you have fast numnums then. I dont, or have a google account.
-
@Onoff is photobucket the same sort of thing? I think i have this, or did have it.
-
Redone, but stuck at 263 mb, 98% done.. stuck for an hour like so, no drop out of connection its next to hub.
-
Yes ok will try again, ipad up in top new room thick wall between/ a bit away from hub.. so does only get a low connect to it. But even so, should this take about 1.5 hrs to do? just a 2 min clip of my noisy unit on an ipad?
-
Well theres one 20 m away, but Im thinking just for this small 2 sqm porch area to paint, not being outside & weathered, maybe Just dulux weathershield or even emulsion as joe says ' just crack on'. Its bound to be costly, ill have most of it just left too you see.. Ill bear in mind for future tho. thanks zoot
-
@Onoff checking back this morning.. its still stuck on 257 of 269 mb. So close. Not sure if this way works for me.
-
yup its inside porch.. so your point being the less thick the paint here, the more possible i'll breathe? or just forget any breathable aspect as its inside-? Assuming emulsion isn't breathable.. My builder was grumbling about the super-thick emulsion inside the 4 walls (my main room with stove etc) muttering about not letting walls breathe etc: so wouldn't this be the same for this 'inside' porch area? in which case wouldn't a breathable paint (dulux w'shield) be better than emulsion?
-
Understood- doesn't the mortar stuff have like 3mm gravel in though? occasional 4mm, to add the 'look' to otherwise plain mortar? this wouldn't work as a render onto the stone faces, would it, even adding water? Yes cleaned stone far nicer. But in my case wouldn't blend in to rest of white cottage, or other white 3 sides of porch (those contoured-face-faux-stone bricks). In time I might reveal the stone behind my gothic bed in new room (old c1960 pics show this old outside wall before gravel-dashed-horrorshow added & looks a well built visually lovely slate wall).. but last on list, after whippet.
-
I can understand this: my house 2ft thick 4 walled shell, outside has had some sort of fired-on-from-gun sealed coating-with fine gravel type covering, sort of like pebble dash but far smaller grains & gaps between them.. lord knows what it is. Inside these walls have been super-thick emulsion painted. So both sides not breathable. Removing whole lot is a logistical n'mare. Now whether these coatings have contributed to the rising damp within them, some places/ low down, thankfully not too bad/ liveable with.. or this damp would have come up (I assume by capillary action) regardless I don't know. It defo smells better having removed what I have in porch, & I'm inclined to just white the lime (render?) tub stuff with my dulux weathwrshield even if its said 'I wouldn't on lime render..' in the dulux spiel, as its inside & no rain will hit.
-
3.5.. if I just press 'go'. Im not on board with upload and downloading stuff. I dont know the difference tbh! At the moment the transfer Im sending myself just got up to 257mb, then has just frozen stuck there, tantalisingly short by 10 mb.
-
Was thinking my dulux weathershield is, and it is, but says not suitable for lime render. Recommends Keim brand specialist stuff.. sounds german and expensive. Is the stuff in the tub render?
-
Only thing is, its taken over 30mins to transfer only half of the 269mb (a 2min clip on my ipad).. its still running/ is that normal?
