well it was ok'd i could turn off 3 rads, chap agreeing probably giving more numnums to remaining rads.. so ive done that too, but can see a change today, rads a much better. But as i said, unless this happens when i need it, not say 2 hrs until they get to this state, im still up a gum tree. im up one right now, freezing cold, in the new top room hat and scarf on, nose legs feet back cold.. because its in Hw period until 6, (so prioritises this over heating) & room temp nosedived after 5 pm. Been at 18.5* (in thermostat spare room) all day, just about bearable in here only tho. interesting to see iif i can get the room warm this ev now rads can go hotter. Not holding my breath tbh bc its 3* outside, and also, the damn overnight noise started 4.45 pm. Urgh. I cannot cope much more with this system tbh. Told Vaillant in an email just now, if this issue not fixed monday it must be removed asap/ totally untennable to live with. I'll follow this up with trading standards info, demands, ie get my bboy pants on, if i have a bad weekend with it. Highly likely as temp low now, frequency of wretched noise coinciding - im sure now- with outside temp drop to 3 to 4 degrees.

@MJNewton just remembered, the 0.8 thing was " heat curve" iirc that is. So it was upped ( apparantly default setting is 0.6, that is how its set from factory) from 0.8, which installers set i think their default setting, but a figure usually associated with under floor heating.. to 1.2 a figure being associated with wall rads. Sorry my heads such a fug with all this, plus lack of sleep due to it, & i forgot this is what was discussed, and altered today during call to vaillant. many thanks for your input chaps, zh

Spot on MJN. I had thought exactly, precisely this, going into one zoot thought experiment.. head aching as a result.. Ok Ive got yet another vaillant visit monday. Ive got i think 2 more installers visits after this too, one to add a part ( so vaillant last visit determined, to fix leak re. Prv or somthing), then hopefully a final one to add a silencer. Jesush. Right, Vaillant visit monday: idea here is to add some hardware onto this sensor they said, in order to do something, in order to stop the signal being sent overnight. Summink to this effect, my brain couldn't cope establishing more. So, in effect, possibly what you are thinking here.. and concurring with my exceptional engineering brilliance too. But I bet it wont do a fart.

Ok Peter, will buy today but look.. just off phone, did few things in controller, as a result ( plus turning off two rads i dont need) and i can feel rads now a different temp. They now feel fairly hot. Its very obvious to feel a rads temp, hot or tepid warm, suggesting Im sort of thinking these temps just feels like challenging me, because I dont understand various things, & bc im a newbie to it all. Now whether i can get this temp in them when i need it.. is another matter entirely: midday, after 5.5 hrs of being on continuosly, isn't useful/ i dont actually need it. 8 am, after being on 1.5 hs- I do.
-
Good q. Was set to 45*, set down i think possibly by engineer to try tamp down compressor noise about 4 visits ago, so just upped to 55* as suggested by phone renewables dept. Very very good these chaps have been i must add. Cant hear much difference, rads low temp now priority over this noise anyway. Also told to up the heat upped from 0.8 to 1.2.. wtf this is i cant cope thinking of. Buying thermometre today.
-
Very helpful Peter, will buy today. I hate to think what my bathroom will read.
-
No just an immersion tank, feeding hw. All rads new. You see alot of stuff foc. If this was removed, if it cant be sorted/ noisewise itll have to be if remains as is/ would the rads all be removed too? My q is can these rads, plus mostly 22 mm pipes, be used with an alternate source? 2 loooong rads, 6 remaining being normal size afaict.
-
Ok joe thanks, reassuring reply. Surely the proof I can give, at this point without thermometres yet, is the rads are so tepid-warm as to be hopelessly effective at heating -any- room. So lets agree to disagree on this, & I'll look into thermo's to buy. I'm onto vaillant right now, yet again, listening to music etc waiting to speak to the renewables/ tech chaps. I'm asking about this rad temp thing only (cant cope askin g about other leak/ pressure/ noise issues this wek). Is there anything you'd suggest I ask whilst here? takes a feck of a long time to get thru.
-
Quite possibly both, but I can only vouch for the the 1st, designed (& therefore working) appalingly. I understand the suggestion of thermometres in rooms, but can't understand an absolute fundamental before this: why if at 8am, it being on since 6.30am, am I feeling all the rads with only a semblence of warmth in? essentially all barely-on mostly cold rads: these just physically -cannot- -will not- -it is not possible to-- to get anything but the tiniest bit of heat into a room from, modern room or old > an even tinier bit of heat into me, from radiators in this state. "Its all working as it should" another engineer said 2 days ago, 4 hours here (albeit adding he agreed something odd's happening overnight/ some additional mystery thing) but during the day, in its heating times, its established its 'working fine'. Furthermore, I've witnessed the rads being capable of getting to a decent 'hottish' temp. So infuriatingly, they can do it, but just won't, when I need them to. Its 3* right now. 8am. Nearly december. When other than this would I need the rads to do get going already?? Why is some 'brain' part of this wretched thing telling the rads 'oh go super-low-heat-right-now & stay like so for 4 hours, that's correct'. Its like its in end of spring mode or something. Totally unfit for purpose. Just this alone. Totally. Thinking on the engineering avenue, camera tech background so have -some- logic to use, I can only think its the ----sensor--- sending incorrect transmitter-signals (the overnight mystery 'on.off.on.off' debacle fits this theory imo) to whatever receiver. Or the receiver determining whats being transmitted wrongly. But I shouldn't have to consider these zoot thought experiments. I should just get up at 8am, with 3 rads on nicely warm. That's all I need from this. Whether they then are highly effective, or far less so, by way of the nature/ build aspects of the room.. is secondary & irrelevant with regard to the fundamental prior need of simply getting a damn metal water filled thing HOT enough 1st. Irrelevant for now. Irrelevant for this part of proceeedings. Get the rads going 1st >>>> then get thermometres in >>>> absolutely agree (but pointless beforehand/ at thus juncture it seems to me).

Anyway, thank goodness for my £5 fan heater, plus a freebie leccy blanket a kind soul gave me.. putting on low overnight now so back better last night, but still feel the ache in my spine from 2 nights ago. £5 fan heater more effective at getting me warm in 5 mins, than an 8k german ashp over a whole fkn month. Never known anything so pathetically ridiculous. Question for joe/ those who know ashp's: I notice the big rad in this top bedroom, doesn't quite get as warm as other two in other 2 beds.. only a fraction less mind you. Now i dont need these 2 other bedroom rads on, so can i turn them off, (also the only other big looong rad downstairs is not needed really) and would this maybe increace the temp of remaining rads ? Ie does their energy get distributed to other rads? thanks zh

joe theres alot different between making your own, meaning you know exactly its workings, and meaning likely you wont have an absurdly complicated digital controller, and able to fix something if you made it, or at the least identify the problem.. than this terrible thing ive got that 5 engineers over 2 months havent the foggiest clue what its even doing let alone how to fix it. Jilly please do. Never in my life have i been so sure of not recommending something as -this- ashp. It is abysmal, ridiculously overcomplicated, infuriating, and cant do the basic pg1 of getting a well insulate new room warm with a huge radiator in. Its been signed off time and time again, probably 6 times now as 'working correctly, all as it should be'. So its nothing to do with the installation, its just total and utter shite hardware. Be very wary.
-
?? Bizarre.
-
Good q.. cant recall signing anything no. At the mo Im chasing Vaillant up on noise o'night prob1, also Co who employed installers im trying them agree get installers (who I cannot contact myself now) to fit a "refrigerant silencer" to quell the compressor noise intrusive prob2. So will see what results on these, importantly prob1..then evaluate way to go, take your advice then. Im a bit loathed to dive in with full bboy zoot pants just yet. Cheers Peter

Thanfully i still have my kichen oil filled electric slim job, removed on install day ( ebayed it.. got all of £1.20 final price for it!! No fkn way im selling it to anyone for 1.20 i said.. bidder gracefully understood, no bad fdbk! Phew.) So cheers i do have this i can dig out, & my trusty £5 fan heater that follows me round like a dog on a lead room to room, for 4 yrs.. so used to it in fact. Dont know what i'd do without it. Makes a mockery of this german schmerman ch system.
-
@PeterW thats the best reply, thanks so much.. gives me alot of reassurance that. And I understand about the pants etc.. tbh Ive been getting purty damn firm, but with Vaillant, bc I'm being clearly blanked by installers so cannot get in contact. Vaillant I do give credit to, servicewise, if only the dam hardware was a quarter the standard. Its also got to be taken into account I havent paid a dime.. rather complicating things if a prob like this, meaning Im far less inclined to get my bboy pants on, compared to if Id spent 8 k. Then id have a pair of huge bboy bloomers on.

Well i know one bit only isnt working correctly, this abject comings on at night. But as to rads temp.. Im very confused, as when I did enquire on here, on my ashp thread, the consensus was It was working correct, but Muggins wasn't.. moaning away about it! Very useful advice re, trading stds though. If i keep getting engineer visits saying 'all working as it should currently' tho ( even chap today said this, also agreeing -- thank goodness he did, & absolutely too-- though that it is not correct it coming on in this awful "cycle" mode whatever it is doing at 3.10 to 4.10 am).. then Ive got no grounds for complaint you see. Thats the 2 nd biggest worry, the 1 st being if this night noise just cannot be stopped: then I have no choice but have it all removed, and replaced, which could cost me many thousands. I can barely sleep due to the worry about this.
-
Appreciate ideas though, trading stds.. jeepers Im in a mire of avenues and calls, I cant quite cope with another right now. I do have to be patient & see if anything -does- get resolved in next say 2 weeks before i consider this 'last option'. At the mo, the wretched overnight noise (the word " purge" was reached as to a possibility today of what it may be doing, without reason to, this "achievement" of a possible reason, reached after 4 hrs by vaillant engineer, nothing else, just this word as a possibility & off he went to investigate for a week.. plus my ipad clip i showed him agreed with/ it shouldnt be doing it etc). So you might see how frustrating this is, regardless of the warmth its not putting out. Im warm now, leccy blanket on my back.. such a relief. But rest of room as usual, not even slightly warm.
-
Been onto all sorts of folks in the chain, visits, but nothing gets fixed, calls and emails now being ignored by installers, & i havent even got on about the temperature of even this new build room never being warm.. i have 3 other issues to deal with far more pressing ( 2 re. Noise, awful waking noise issue worst, and the big leak/ pressure issue.. all of which remain, not one fixed). I put my foot down when chap went today, saying Im fast concluding its not fit for purpose. He agrred, understood. But i dont have choices you see Peter. I dont have option of having it all removed, something else put in (lpg one chap said prolly better). Its like a millstone at the mo, my only way fwd is to try try try get this night noise stopped. Then go from there. Next issue. Then next. THEN i can address the tepid rads, if this is an issue i dont know cos i dont understand it one iota.
-
I understand the principle here newhome, thanks. But getting this room up to an acceptable temp, seems impossible. I just need on old school ch system, rads with flamin trv horrors on. At least i could get this room bloody warm then.
-
Im slowly coming to this conclusion joe, but mainly due to the overnight noise as reason ( having yet another vaillant visit no.5 today, 4 hrs, leaving without fixing it/ no idea what it is).. but if I come in this ev, 5pm, its at 18*, & I whack it up to 23*, and 2hrs later the rads are only ( as usual, infutiatingly) lukewarm... its never, ever gonna get any room warm, as it just never does, its just basic physics. I need these wretched rads -hot- or as hot as they'll go if temps dropping like a stone @ 4* right now, clear skies etc. But Im not allowed them hot, it seems, im only ever allowed them lukeflaminwarm. But folks on here sayingits working correctly. So Im told off if I dare suggest its not fit for purpose 'its you! Not it!' Etc. Does my nut in. I just don't know what to expect of it, thats the problem. But surely, just one nice hottish rad isnt alot to ask for. I whacked it up to 30* half hr ago to see what bloody effect this might have but rads exactly the same (i think this may have been effectively the 'test' suggested by whacking* up to 25*.. but it was never explained, so was wondering why it was being suggested: but when put to 25* rads stayed, as always, lukeflaminwarm.. so it seems i'll just never be able to get just one, well insulated modern room, warm, with a 10k bells and whistles new ch system. I just don't understand it whatsoever, or the ultra coldness in this new room. Installers refusing to answer calls, or emails, hence having no choice but go to vaillant ( as seems to only make sense if it has a vaillant 5 yrs guarantee).
-
Thank god Ive been given one, but I shouldnt be lying on a bed at 7 pm with it on, in a newly built well insulated room, and not ever needing to do this in a poorly insulated room next door. The q here is nothing to do with the heating system. Nor is to do with how i can get warm in the meantime. Nor is it me being ill. It is to do with the way the room is built, evidently. That's why Im asking about it on here, my thread about my new extention. I have never had radiators before 3 months ago. But I could go to bed & hunker down ok, room cold sure.. but nothing like this core spine cold in a new insulated room with a rad on for 4 hours last evening ( albeit utterly hopeless afaict, only luke warm rads, but more than this other room ever had).
-
Totally correct, the only way to get my back warm is exercise.. but I have to work. and this is nuts to have to do after a mildish night @ 7*C in a well insulated room. I dont know wtf is going on.
-
Sorry I dont quite understand the suggestion. If you're insinuating I might be 'thinking' its cold when its not in fact.. this just cannot be. If my back 6 hours later is aching with cold.. I was cold. The room was cold. The underside of the bed specifically was cold.. so my back & legs were (& are still). Not just a bit, deeply right in your spine & I still feel it now. I doubt if you've ever felt this kind of cold- Ive only felt it in this house, only in this room (I feel it during day too just in legs, lying on the bed, even with my useless heating on).
-
No, if this is a genuine question. I don't have any symptoms of illness.
-
The only thing 'outstanding' is the door yet to put on, but, Ive slept in adjacent bedroom many times so cold I see my breath.. & never had this awful core back cold. Same mattress too, taken from one room to new one next door. Next door room doesn't have -any- insulation in (bar usual loft fluff in ceiling). Last night it wasn't cold @7*. Above me, the thick duvet does as you'd expect/ I'm warm. So my body's warm.. but what I'm laying on is cold > so my back & legs are cold. Never known anything like it. It feels like the btm 3ft of room is just filling with cold, going under bed, & cooling the board my mattress is on. Maybe as the room's set this wretched 1ft down it shouldn't be, maybe this is acting like a 'basin' for cold to sit in. Its nothing relating to the ASHP. Discounting this (bc if its on, then it should at the least -add- some iota of warmth to this room.. not do the opposite) entirely, I can just compare this lets call it unheated insulated room, to unheated uninsulated room adjacent: & insulated one feels alot colder. Yes I could solve it by putting in 4x 15kw log burners.. but this isn't the point. Its why its like it is. It shouldn't be, it should be the very opposite.
