I've just checked the programming of all the roomstats and they are all programmed correctly too (and in any case use a single program all weekdays so would not explain why this only appears to happen on Monday mornings.

Hi Dave, the only separate switch turns off the diverter.
-
The immersion is the backup heater, and switched via the ASHP controller. The only time the immersion contributes heat to the tank is when the diverter sends excess solar to it.

Hi Buildhubbers, long time no speak, but hope you're all well. As per the title, I have a bit of a mystery. This morning, I happened to notice that we were consuming around 3kW at a time when I didn't expect us to be. Couldn't check immediately as I had to pop out, and the load had stopped by the time I returned. I'll admit, I don't check that frequently these days as the house has been in a settled pattern and overall usage has been in line with expectations. However, on checking bills, we have been pulling such a load on random Monday mid/late mornings, for at least the last few months. Not every Monday, not even every other Monday, but completely randomly, and seemingly for 90 minutes each time. My first thought was to check if I'd made a cockup on the programming of the ASHP, but I haven't (it goes off at 5.30am daily and doesn't co e back on until 11.30pm). My second thought was to check that I hadn't inadvertently changed the time if the sterilisation cycle (for Legionnaires), or that I had somehow triggered the backup heater mode - I haven't. So now I'm baffled. I can only see it being that the ASHP is coming on, but there's no obvious reason why. Any suggestions of where or what to check next would be greatly appreciated, please.

Surely this no different from what any retailer does to cover the costs incurred when shoplifters steal stuff rather than pay for it, ie the 'loss' is borne by those who do pay.

Yes, just reprogrammed our ASHP to make best use of the longer (than Go) cheap rate period. -

First charge successfully completed last night. Interestingly, it chose to charge in three separate 30 minute blocks, with 3o minutes between each block. Seems it will only charge by the percentage you request, ie last night I requested it add 25% (as was already 70% charged) and stopped it stopped at 95%. -

Okay, I hadn't read the email properly. As you, it was an invitation to join the Beta test, and I've just connected 👍🏻 -

Apparently now live. Will be giving it a go in the next day or two and will report back once up and running. -

Not heard anything as yet. -

For anyone else who's interested, I have it on very good authority that Zappi integration with Intelligent Octopus is expected to roll out in early September. -

Thanks Jack. Not as yet, but had another conversation with Octopus, with someone apparently more knowledgeable than previous. Seems that it won't be possible to charge from excess solar as the Octopus app won't allow the Zappi to control anything once on the Intelligent tariff. Edited to add - only charger they claim compatibility with at present is Ohme. Hopefully others will follow. -
... as well as a Myenergi Zappi and PV? If so, are you still able to charge with excess solar? I'm getting conflicting advice from Octopus.

Global warming is in fact entirely natural and has already peaked

Fan Coil Units for use with a (cooling) ASHP
NSS replied to ProDave's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Okay, must have different internals to ours. We have a condensate drain that connects into a nearby waste pipe. -

Apart from the display/control panel markings, these look to be identical to the Panasonic Air rad we installed six years ago. If so, I'll be interested to hear how they work for you as ours is fine in cooling mode but practically useless in heat mode as the ashp water temperature almost never reaches the delta at which the valve opens to allow water to circulate through it. -
See the FAQs in this article... https://www.goodenergy.co.uk/smart-export-payments/
-
Depends how much you generate, and how much if it you consume/export I guess. We currently get paid circa 6p/kWh for around 1,700 units per annum (on about 3.4MWh annual generation). If that was halved (ie if we actually export only 25%) the loss would be about £50/year, so annoying but not life-changing.

Same email, but seems this is an OFGEM edict.
-
So it seems.
-
Am I the only one that was unaware (until yesterday) that the deemed 50% export element of FiT payments is to be replaced with payment for the actual amount exported if you have a Smart meter?

Don't worry Joe, we don't all need reams of data and supercomputer levels of analysis to agree something works. When I did my apprenticeship, mechanical engineering types boasted that they worked to thousandths of an inch accuracy. Shipwrights like I on the other hand worked on the assumption that... i) so long as we were on the right ship, and ii) it took no more than six whacks with a 7-pound maul (like a sledgehammer but with a pointy bit in one end), then job was a good'un 😄

Perhaps, but that's a big if, and there are 39 million vehicles on Britain's roads (26 times the number of fires/burners).
