Following on here and Instagram, really interested as to how you managed to secure planning as we have an acre to develop which we have bought without permission but hope to secure this year, did you engage specialists? We have self built previously and project managed.

Absolutely !!!! Best advice is do as much as you can yourself, drawings, planning application, building regs, project manage, negotiations, two and a half years of pain with a full time job as well, long days and nights, no social life to speak of, loads of research before hand so you know what to expect and have a budget, all planned out and stick to it 100%, we did and it worked a treat, starting our next two once planning is agreed !!!!

Exactly what ProDave said, from personal experience I always do my own to save the crazy costs quoted and add that saving into my contingency.
