MartinGPerry Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) Has anyone fitted solar PV tiles? Our new build has Redland Cambrian slate roof and Redland do a matching PV tile. I only need 1.5m2 solar to meet the SAP requirements and I’m tossing up whether to go for tiles or a conventional recessed panel system. Edited December 14, 2018 by MartinGPerry Add link
Big Neil Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 I'm sure members with much more technical know-how will be along shortly, but from what i've seen of those sort of units it's probably a case of aesthetic preference. I found a panel on https://midsummerwholesale.co.uk following discussion about solar panels, and a 300w panel is about £100 for one of the manufacturers there, so not that much cost wise...

I am not sure you are looking at this the right way. Sure you can fit the bare minimum to scrape a building regs pass, but would you not prefer to fit a decent amount to have some useful generation to lower your electricity bills each and every year?
