TerryE
Yup, same here. Vacuum every 3 months and replace every year -- and like Jeremy we live in a rural location. Goodness knows how dirt they would get in a city or suburban location.

Something like these from Panasonic (other suppliers are available): https://www.aircon.panasonic.eu/GB_en/product/aquarea-air-radiators/ I am currently involved in a project where we’re looking at fitting duct coolers ( heaters? ) in the dead space above the fitted wardrobes in all of the bedrooms. I’m just fine tuning that design to see if it would be beneficial to extract the return air from 2 points low down either side of the bed wall, eg to promote cooled airflow from high above the wardrobes down low past the bed, basically to minimise noise and maximise comfort at night. Looking also at the possibility of reducing fan speed to these units when the dT is below a certain differential measurement thus just having the fans run near silent for trickle cooling and for them to ‘boost’ when the room needs max cooling or ‘purge’ ( where you’d tolerate the audibility as that would be the same as a split air con would create anyway ).
