Ricco
Our builder is building our house that has an arched porch and then the front door set back with 2 side lights and an arched fan light above it. The builder has installed an arched Keystone lintel on the external arch of the porch but on the internal part where the door will go he has put a straight concrete lintel. I have attached a screen shot of the architects plans that he is working from - would it it be right to have assumed that there should have been a second arched lintel or how will the internal arch be achieved for the door to affix to? The first floor slabs are being installed on Monday so want to catch this if necessary before then! Thanks
PeterW
Assuming he has put the concrete lintel at 2500 ie above the top line of the curved lintel..? It will need some internal detailing to complete the arch both sides and fit adequate insulation but I’ve seen it done to no detriment.
Russell griffiths
As peter said I would have installed it higher to take the load and then some sort of non load bearing stud work to make the curved shape. Picture.
