Russell griffiths
Evening, we have run a new main all the way into our property its just over 210m long, first 100m in 50mm, second 100m in 32mm, I am now just 10-15m from the front of the house should I continue in 32mm right into the plant room, or drop down to 25mm the cost of pipe is not a factor as it’s cheap as chips. Cheers russ.
Guest Alphonsox
In a similar situation we dropped to 25mm (from 32mm) for the last 10m. For a normal domestic installation I doubt you'll see a difference.
Jeremy Harris
Our whole run from the bottom of the borehole up and around to the pump house at the rear of the house is in 25mm MDPE. I measured the flow rate when we were testing it and it was maxing out the pump at over 1000 litres per hour and I don't think the pipe was limiting it much, if at all. When testing I had it running through a whole 100m coil of 25mm MDPE, just because I wasn't sure what length to cut it to, and again it was maxing the pump out, with little or no pipe restriction. 25mm MDPE seems well up to the job of feeding most houses I think, especially if the mains pressure is reasonable. Nickfromwales
If there's good pressure and flow at the 32mm, then as above. If your not on the best of mains then go all the way to a 32mm x 22mm stopcock, as then you'll want to squeeze everything you can out of the mains supply.
