Any recommendations for whole-house Water Softeners?

We're in a (very) hard water location and need a water softener plumbed in at the plant room (kitchen tap and utility room sink will be unsoftened). We've done some research but interested to hear any recommendations (good and bad experiences).

No actual hands one experience but we're due to get the Monarch Master HE installed in ours. Recommendation from the plumber and the usual checks online and with ChatGPT seem to indicate that it's a good product that will stand up the daily demands of a high water usage household.

I am content with my Atlantis Eco-Logic AT350, which I bought as a refurbished unit from a manufacturer local to me (Cambridgeshire). They provided good service.

No issues.

No power requirements. 

 

Also, our un-softened kitchen supply is ‘conditioned’ with a Combimate to stop the kitchen hard water supply doing any damage to the Quooker etc.

This is a separate issue I’ve just been pondering - unsoftened to the kitchen tap… which is going to be a quooker cube. How do they cope with a hard water supply, what are the options etc (clearly, I’m about to google combimate as a starter…)

Monarch is one we’ve heard of, but also intrigued as to why it’s so much cheaper than others - Got us wondering what’s the difference etc…

No idea. I’d only ever heard of Harvey before this, never actually had one. Plumber and main contractor both have had experience with the Monarch - good enough for me!

FWIW, we plumped for a Wash Water as they offered a longish warranty (AFIK without the need for annual servicing) and the option to buy with 28mm flexi hoses to give good flow for the whole house.

We’ve done exactly the same (I think we followed Dreadnought’s recommendation) and it’s fine and dandy and a good price too.

 

We’ve also got a Qooker tap.  We fitted the Qooker Scale control, it’s another cylinder to go next to the main cylinder, or in your case a cube.  We’ve got 33 whatevers hard water (yes, 33 individual little droplets from the test kit till it changed, sigh), and I think it’s a condition of the Qooker warranty that if you have hard water you have to have a scale control doberry. 
 

As an aside, why an unsoftened tap in the room of utils?
