Protecting Kitchen cabinet cut edges

Trimmed some end panels and have some non faced edges that I’d like to protect.  once upon a time it used to be pva that was used to protect them.  But since times have moved on and it’s been shown that pva is no good around moisture could I paint on sbr instead?  I’m guessing at this point so please put me straight 👍.

I rubbed in clear Sika EBT into my raw edges, seems to have worked.

Waterproof PVA 🤣

A smear of silicone

Lick of varnish

 

Used all three from time to time and all good options. Waterproof PVA would be my choice if it's MDF, silicone if it's chipboard.

Smear in clear silicone is what nhbc inspectors look for below sinks where waste cut into shelf.
