Anitha Posted Wednesday at 12:21 Posted Wednesday at 12:21 (edited) Hi , Please find the attached floor plan of our house. Is it possible to move the cloakroom(toilet) in kitchen to garage and make the kitchen bigger. And it would be nice if we could connect kitchen and utility room (2nd kitchen). Now we dont have direct access. We have to either go throuh garage or go outside and then enter into utility room. Is this a big change? Is it possible to do this within 10-15k please Edited Wednesday at 12:22 by Anitha Missed pics
Mr Punter Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago There is at least 1 structural wall to the WC and it will be supporting floors and / or walls above. Not a big deal but needs a structural engineer to look at. The second kitchen looks like an add-on. If it is not a properly built extension it may be better to remove and start again. It is a bit of a hotchpotch at the back and £10-15k does not buy you much nowadays unless you are keen on DIY and / or have family in the building trade. There are some architect / designers on here who may chip in. 1

As you say it kind of looks like the house has been previously altered. Would need more info to comment further as an SE / try and put a ball park cost on this.

The garage is referred to as being 'outside the heated envelope' of the main (habitable) dwelling, AKA a "cold" space. To move the WC out there requires you building a wall at the end of the garage to create a new 'partition'; this would require a full building regs application with a proposal from a general builder, for comment. The garage floor should be stepped down 100mm or so from the residential dwelling, so that would need insulation over, to bring it to an acceptable standard, plus insulation to the ceiling and any external wall you then create (a new wall inside the garage would be considered an 'outside wall' as it abuts the remaining 'cold' area of the garage. I've done plenty of these jobs over the years, and it is very simple tbh. So....to answer your question...."YES!".
