BotusBuild Posted Thursday at 18:23 Posted Thursday at 18:23 A word of warning. Bought a bunch of single gang LAP light switches (I think all 2-way) from Screwfix. In the last 2 weeks 3 of them have broken. I dismantled the internals of one and a small piece of plastic fell out - i presume the same has happened in the other two. I shall be replacing them all as they fail with another brand. Probably these: https://www.screwfix.com/p/knightsbridge-curved-edge-10ax-1-gang-1-way-light-switch-white/720yc?ref=SFAppShare OR https://www.screwfix.com/p/mk-logic-plus-10ax-1-gang-1-way-light-switch-white/13930?ref=SFAppShare Anyone recommend one over the other?
ProDave Posted Thursday at 20:09 Posted Thursday at 20:09 Neither. For simple white switches, I don't think you will beat Click Mode for quality, value and reliability. But Screweys don't sell them. Toolstation do. https://www.toolstation.com/click-mode-10a-switch/p73508 A little "quirk" of these switches is the switch mechanism can be removed from the plate, enabling you to mix normal and intermediate switches on the one plate. Almost like a grid switch. 1 1
BotusBuild Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago Bought those @ProDave. Thanks. For any curious minds out there in the photo below, the LAP switch has a kind of "blanking plate" (red circle). The bit in the blue circle is the little bit of plastic that was part of the blanking plate which broke off inside and stopped the switch being able to "rock". (Ignore the brass bit in the lower hole - after taking it apart I obviously put it back incorrectly).
ProDave Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago That looks like a 1W switch (simple on /off) A 2 way switch would have another terminal in that hole circled in red. For the few p you save I only buy 2 way switches
BotusBuild Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago I can understand why if it avoid design stupidity (or (expletive deleted)uppery, whichever you prefer)
Mattg4321 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Lap, rhymes with cr.. Probably the worst, least reliable accessories I've ever come across. You won't have any problems with Click Mode
