KrisStar Posted Friday at 22:03 Posted Friday at 22:03 (edited) As per title, is there any way I could explain to the company I am buying the door from that I need them to use the proper system to wind/water proof the door installation instead of using pure white sealant? I really do not understand why this is a case still, in this day and age. So how does it work in the UK? Is this known practice? Gladly they knew about Marmox Thermoblocks and we are going to fit them under the frame, but I want to go step forward anyway. Any advice? P.S. I did that, they said they will foam it around and stick some trims to it. As many others did say the same. I already had about 5 different companies doing a survey. Hence the question as none of them seem enthusiastic when I asked about other ways of doing it..
Sparrowhawk Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago My experience is you won't get a standard installer to do anything else and will have to either do it yourself or let them do the install and then do whatever you can for airtightness on the internal side.
saveasteading Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago If you provide compriband expanding strip, or an equivalent, then they might fit it. They're clearly not intending to. I think that's the only best method.
