aidy55 Posted Friday at 09:21 Posted Friday at 09:21 Our stove has been in the house 10 years. Decent stove, charnwood country 6. Athough its always had a smell from it which has been quite fustrating. We only burn in it even though its multi fuel, should i remlve the grate? The fire cement is all broken so ive pulled it out to clean and going to refit it with fresh cement. Just want to check that this setup is correct. The flue goes inside the stove collar and then theres another cone shaped adaptor that fits inside the flue then straight into the chimney void
ProDave Posted Friday at 10:35 Posted Friday at 10:35 Your stove flue should at least continue up into the ceramic flue above the slab and be sealed with a closure plate.
aidy55 Posted Friday at 10:44 Author Posted Friday at 10:44 Yes, i must get a closure plate. Its optional though i think
crispy_wafer Posted Friday at 10:48 Posted Friday at 10:48 looks logical, the cone chimney adapter seals the flue and directs any falling soot or detritus into the fire chamber. Regards smell, I'd probably make sure you have a flue temp sensor, and make sure there's a carbon monoxide sensor in the room. My stove smells a bit if I'm burning too hot for too long.
aidy55 Posted Friday at 17:36 Author Posted Friday at 17:36 Got it back in, working fine but still a very noticeable smell I usually burn softwood logs, very dry. Would hardwood make a difference to the smell, doubt it myself
