Sounds like fun; except we have to put PIR on top of the concrete and it won't lay flat with random bits of polystyrene unless they are perfectly sculpted ? ??

If its going to need patching in lots of different areas then it would be a cruel task. Another option could be to blind the worst areas with 6mm aggregate and let the liquid screed bind into it. Its harder to advise from afar as it isn't an enviable task.

Even though the floor is not level like a pond is, it's not that bad smoothwise. Putting the PIR down and letting the screed do the levelling by being deeper in areas and thinner in others should be OK  ?? ; at least that is what the contractor seemed to be happy with
