This unmarked concrete box has been in the garden for years and we've just cut the grass around it. Would really like to remove it but unsure what it might be. Might open it with a crowbar but thought I'd put it out there to see first.

Well it's patently an inspection cover installed to give access to whatever is under it. That could be a drain, soakaway or secret nuclear bunker.............. Lift it to find out......

Secret revealed and not a nuclear bunker. It's a drain that flows away from the front of the property - apparently uphill. When the hose ban is removed in our area will put some water down there to see how it flows and where.

Thanks all. Taken years to get round to this and all that was needed was a couple of bit from Screwfix!

PS: Have book a session with local water company to view their online maps to see if there is a connection to a sewer.

Your first tport of call is to check your deeds and make sure these are not within an easemt / wayleave. Could also be part of the public sewer system if collecting form other properties. I see two beaches feeding in to the main line. Definitely right in tracking all those pipes to see what is what.

From somebody that used to survey water network assets, chambers in people's lawns were the bane of my life. Please don't bury it 😭
