Paddyflyer Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Just about to remove the old glass porch roof and replace with composite insulated panels. The roof is a lean-to nestled in the crook of the L-shaped house. Thus, the verge abuts a rendered wall. Any suggestions on how to flash this join?
Paddyflyer Posted July 26 Author Posted July 26 DIY. My assumption is that I need to remove a band of the Roughcast to get the flashing against the wall. The question is then: Flashbanding against the wall and over the roofing panel? Or cut a shallow angled chase for a metal flashing? Or a stepped lead flashing? Or...? Any advise would be much appreciated.
Redbeard Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Lead. Please. You could do stepped flashing or, if you have very good dust suppression on your grinder, do an angled chase. I prefer stepped, but cut-and-angled arguably quicker. Whatever you do it will get difficult as you get up neat the fascia. Are you already sorted for flashing at the top of the slope, at 90 degrees to the bit in question?
Mr Punter Posted July 26 Posted July 26 The raking section does not have to be belt and braces as it is protected by the eaves and gutter. You could use some self adhesive lead replacement covering right up to behind the fascia and down onto your new roof. Cut the whole thing carefully before you remove the backing paper.

The panel manufacturer says they can make a custom flashing for the lean-to top ridge. The ridged profile of the roof panel means though that it wouldn't be sealed against the full width...

That would be a much simpler solution. I'll research the lead replacement option.
