Pocster Posted July 14 Posted July 14 (edited) So this crap battery powered high water alarm worries me . Just tested it , batteries apparently flat even though replaced only 3 weeks ago . Not much faith in this . Could be flat and I wouldn’t know until kitchen flooded So want a pressure switch that links to a mains powered but battery backup unit . Unit has a light to indicate it’s actually on and also possibility to trigger a zigbee relay so can notify HA Most of these alarms operate on a float which I don’t want . Pressure switches seem to be industrial or maybe a washing machine type pressure switch ??? Any solid suggestions on a pressure switch , alarm box that will work together suitably appreciated Edited July 14 by Pocster
Pocster Posted July 14 Author Posted July 14 Maybe this alarm box ? https://www.tritoncontrols.co.uk/alarms-and-controls/basic-alarm-easyfit.html?ppc_keyword=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=12120096619&gbraid=0AAAAACdOt02h4JZ2Q8Pdc71YfcucXK6V4&gclid=CjwKCAjw1dLDBhBoEiwAQNRiQThOWqB0p_yPqPWb-ZbaDP_56QCHJGeU_7bjHp0DB25wdPJVVM12UBoC-98QAvD_BwE But a suitable pressure sensor switch seems to be a bit of a minefield of possibilities
Mr Punter Posted July 14 Posted July 14 I don't understand where the pressure switch would fit in. It is normally float type switches for these applications.

The saniflo has a pressure switch . You drill a hole in the top of the saniflo , place a plastic tube it it . The saniflo then sits ontop the unit with the pressure switch in the head of the tube . 1
Pocster Posted July 14 Author Posted July 14 So I’m going to use a standard phone charger to a usb step down I.e to 3v . Wire it into a zigbee door sensor . Then wire dry contacts from reed switch to alarm panel . This should get reliable HA in event of the alarm . Its just the pressure sensor - might take a punt .
Pocster Posted July 15 Author Posted July 15 Great website ! https://www.silicon-ark.co.uk I found https://www.silicon-ark.co.uk/PSF100A-0-5-Pressure-switch-by-multicomp?search=Pressure
Pocster Posted July 24 Author Posted July 24 Got the alarm type box - seems good . Tested with the pressure switch - think it will work . I soldered to the pressure switch and busted it 🙄 ; getting a new one and will crimp . Assume heat melted the diaphragm maybe ? Opened up the zigbee relay - no chance of soldering anything as microscopic. So will get a mains powered zigbee relay with dry contact support .
Pocster Posted August 2 Author Posted August 2 Success ! The alarm box presumably to save power will only audible alarm for 10 seconds . But with the zigbee dry contact input I get HA to get voice assistant to repeat 10 times to annoy and a notification to my phone .
Pocster Posted August 2 Author Posted August 2 It seems to work ( in test mode ) pretty good . So as a final test ; put it under the sink . Turn off pump and let tap run ( I preliminary tried this before and it worked ) . So not expecting any issues . (expletive deleted) you Saniflo for your bullshit crap alarm junk
Pocster Posted August 3 Author Posted August 3 Ok ! Almost works in situ The pressure switch is WAY too sensitive. I tried during the tube length it sits in etc - but it triggers when the pump is in normal use . Ordered a less sensitive version
Pocster Posted August 7 Author Posted August 7 What a rabbit hole I went down ! Purchasing various pressure sensor switches and sending them back . Too sensitive / not sensitive enough etc . In the end butchered the saniflo dry contact switch - answer was staring me in the face 🤣. Added some tube to vary the sensitivity and it seems good . Triton alarm loud enough ( but automatically seems to stop when it wants on the audio ) . But triggers HA aswell ; gets voice to talk and a notification to my phone . So that’s a win ! 👍
Pocster Posted August 12 Author Posted August 12 (edited) Inspired by my success I want a similar system but for when the outdoor rainwater pump fails and also the not in use yet sewage pump ( for swmbo’s tiny underground wc ). So 1 control box ( as before ) but 2 float / lever devices trigger the alarm but also HA though using WiFi as no zigbee outdoors . The very fiddly Shelly uni does the trick . But those (expletive deleted)ing hair thick wires…. oh yeah - needed 2 dry contact inputs - which seems to be a big ask Edited August 12 by Pocster My PIN code 5734
Stu789 Posted Friday at 09:13 Posted Friday at 09:13 If you are wanting to monitor liquid levels in a tank/inspection chamber then a ME201WZ Level Sensor might be of interest - can get wifi and zigbee versions, EG here I'm looking at this for monitoring rainwater tank level. 1

I’ve got another project using water proof ultra sonic transducers linked to an esp32 - works really well . The device you link to might be worth a punt . Be keen to know how you get on .
