Cable for 24v Electric Gate motors and sensors

Can I use a single multi-stranded cable to run 24v power to my gates and use some of the spare strands for the gate sensors?

I fitted my swing gates on our previous build and that’s all I used 

The box of tricks that came with the motor was all colour coded Very similar to an automated garage door

Depends on the current rating of the cable vs the draw off the motors. 
 

These are usually geared down quite a lot so not huge amounts of power (not voltage) required, but we’d need to know some basic info to help.

Is the minimum spec of the cable not in the instructions? (Tried calling the distributors?) Suggest current rating of cable should be twice the demand, just as a safety factor. And yes, regarding signal and power in the same cable, you can largely please yourself with ‘extra low voltage’ - although you should be professional enough to ensure the cable doesn’t overheat by having enough capacity.
