OldieNewbie Posted Monday at 19:13 Posted Monday at 19:13 What is meant when an engineers specifications state that all pillars must be fully located on retained side. what is a retained side?
OldieNewbie Posted Tuesday at 17:40 Author Posted Tuesday at 17:40 sorry I should have added that this relates to a boundary retaining wall
Redbeard Posted Wednesday at 21:18 Posted Wednesday at 21:18 Ah, so I read it as: The 'retained side' means the buried bit. So if you are looking at the finished retaining wall from the lower side you will see no strengthening pillars. Any vertical reinforcement required (rather than strengthening via - possibly stepped - thickness alone) will be buried behind the soil retained. That's how I'd understand that, but IANASE! 1
