OldieNewbie Posted June 30 Posted June 30 What is meant when an engineers specifications state that all pillars must be fully located on retained side. what is a retained side?
OldieNewbie Posted July 1 Author Posted July 1 sorry I should have added that this relates to a boundary retaining wall
Redbeard Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Ah, so I read it as: The 'retained side' means the buried bit. So if you are looking at the finished retaining wall from the lower side you will see no strengthening pillars. Any vertical reinforcement required (rather than strengthening via - possibly stepped - thickness alone) will be buried behind the soil retained. That's how I'd understand that, but IANASE! 1 1
