OldieNewbie Posted June 30, 2025 Posted June 30, 2025 What is meant when an engineers specifications state that all pillars must be fully located on retained side. what is a retained side?
OldieNewbie Posted July 1, 2025 Author Posted July 1, 2025 sorry I should have added that this relates to a boundary retaining wall
Redbeard Posted July 2, 2025 Posted July 2, 2025 Ah, so I read it as: The 'retained side' means the buried bit. So if you are looking at the finished retaining wall from the lower side you will see no strengthening pillars. Any vertical reinforcement required (rather than strengthening via - possibly stepped - thickness alone) will be buried behind the soil retained. That's how I'd understand that, but IANASE! 1 1
