cwr Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Hi folks I've couple of garden walls built from concrete block to render, and would like them to match the house. The house (also concrete block) I believe was done with the following, and appears to be a good job. Weberend aid Weberend MPR Weber PR310 Webersil TF There is a good bit of Weberend MPR left over, but I am wondering if the Weberend aid and PR310 are really necessary for an 800mm high garden wall? I guess a lot of folks would just sand/cement render and paint, but I have the MPR and want to match the house. Thanks
Mr Punter Posted April 19 Posted April 19 MPR / OCR is good stuff and can be painted. Rendaid is very good as a base coat for poor or mixed backgrounds and is very sticky.
JoeBano Posted April 19 Posted April 19 If you don’t want any issues in 5 years time I would follow the spec. With silicone render you get issues in the long run. You used be able to get anyway with just OCR on blockwork, primer and finished in tf but Weber now insist on rendaid basecoat with meshcloth for guarantee.
nod Posted April 20 Posted April 20 An 800 garden wall will always be prone to cracking or shelling off So no guarantees no matter what you use You don’t need a primer on block work Just a 5 mil base coat and fibre mesh imbedded Then two coats of silicone Rend a couple of days later If it was a house wall You don’t need mesh or base coat Free standing walls are always prone to movement Tree roots etc
