Hi all. Can someone please tell me what gap I should have between door frame and door openning? Currently I have a door which I’m going to replace with new composite door. In width I could possibly fit bigger door. Joiner said 900mm x 2090mm however I’ve found a door which measures 905mm x 2090mm. In my eyes I think I could fit it but there is not going to be much space between frame and studs I think around 3 mm on both sides. Any helpful advice would be appreciated. Bart

If your joiner has said 900x2090, is assume he's allowed 25mm or so wiggle room. 905mm will be fine, worst case you might need to chip at a bit of wood. I'm assuming this door will be a saving for you compared to a bespoke order?

Yes. It’s a big savings but also environmentally conscious decision. Door opening seems to be 1000mm. Current door frame is 888~889mm. How difficult is to fit this door myself ? I

One tip on measuring openings: don't assume opening is plumb. Measure in 3 places (bottom, middle, top) and use the minimum measurements.
