Incorporating an external solar blind into the construct

Hello,

Following on from my post asking about external blind suppliers, I tasked the architect with incorporating some external solar blinds into the construct (brick and block with 150mm) so that the boxes are hidden rather than being face fixed to the windows. He has come back with the following response:

Due to the traditional cavity construction I can’t find a way to do it. As well as standard lintels, we will have pretty large beams and plates at the heads of the floor to ceiling glazing for instance, which would obviously clash with trying to hide any boxes.

 

I wondered if anyone has managed to do this?

We had solar blinds at our previous build 

The boxes arnt that big Two of our five boxes failed after 12 months 

I wouldn’t have fancied digging them out of the masonry

How did you fit them? Do you have any architect diagrams that I could share with mine to give him a different way to look at this?

They where a magnetic both at fixed on to the inside of the window

@mads have you approached the external blind companies to see if they have drawings for what you need?

Yes, I did and have also shared with the architect but apparently not helpful. I need to go back to the company and see if can get anything more but thought I would ask here in case others have sussed this before.

Good luck. I hope you find a solution. Our external blinds do a wonderful job of keeping the house cool without us having to rely on the AC too much.

Here you go. 
don’t know where to source them from or how much they are in the UK but lintels that have the blind hidden inside of them.

 

Im like you and want them hidden on a rendered house so need 6 for south and west facing.

Im avoiding big sliders/bi folds now.

Went to the dentist last week and they have patio doors facing west and it were roasting in there and that was in march.
