Queenie Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Hello to whoever can give their opinions or advice on choosing internal doors! I am battling with a choice on my internal doors which I need to get onto ASAP but struggling with choosing what might be the best fit as I've got the flooring down and it's thrown me as I was always going to have cottage style doors, either white so can paint them or oak or even the blonde oak, but with the herringbone flooring laid now I am not sure how these doors would look, perhaps too busy? I've mainly looked at Todd Doors and their range, switching between the cottage style and the shaker style as our kitchen is shaker and I think these doors would possibly fit best, but I didn't really fancy them in white.. but then what colour to paint them!? If anyone is able to share their insight or even photos of the doors they went for with a herringbone flooring i'd be so grateful! I've attached some photos as well so can see the flooring
Bonner Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I have these oak veneer doors throughout, mixed with tiles, laminate and carpet floors. https://deantawood.co.uk/products/internal-doors/oak-doors/galway-interior-oak-door/ Personally I would avoid painted doors whether factory or DIY as they show marks. 1
Benpointer Posted yesterday at 11:50 Posted yesterday at 11:50 Just picking up on this topic, we have looked at Todd doors - they seem nice enough but a bit uninspiring - c.£200 a pop with handles. Most of their doors are bashed out in a factory in Malaysia and, as far as I can tell, the same doors are imported and sold by lots of other vendors. We've also got a quote from Deuren and they work out at over £1000 per door for fairly simple oak veneered doors, and brushed steel handles. Does anyone know of any door suppliers in between Deurens and the mass market? We're looking for contemporary wood, ideally that we can finish ourselves with Osmo. Thanks
Kelvin Posted yesterday at 11:57 Posted yesterday at 11:57 We have these doors from LPD. Arguably still at the mass market end I guess but we liked the quality of these doors and they feel nice and weighty and solid. https://lpddoors.co.uk/products/oak-melbourne-pre-finished/ And these handles. The handles are especially nice. https://lpddoors.co.uk/products/ironmongery-saturn-handle-hardware-pack/

I think they have to be prefinished though. I'm a wheelchair user and with the best will in the world, our doors end up getting scuffed. If we finish with Osmo we can lightly sand and re-seal very easily to hide odd scratches etc.
Kelvin Posted yesterday at 12:22 Posted yesterday at 12:22 They do unfinished too. https://lpddoors.co.uk/doors/internal-doors/oak/?_finish_type=unfinished-oak 1
