DKenn Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 Ok, I can see the logic of smaller screw, I just didn't see a 10mm hole centred in the joist being a problem.

Whenever I have had to drill though joists, the drill and drill bit combo has always been too big to get in, so end up drilling an angles hole.

I was going to using a drill guide to get the hole started.

Because if there were large loads to spread, past a big hole, then a surface only connection isn't carrying the load into the core of the timber. It might distort or twist off....needs lab tests with coffee sticks and mugs.

Big Jimbo Posted February 17 Posted February 17 @SteamyTea I hope you are going to re-emburse Costa for the obvious theft of the stirring sticks.
