Good evening.

We are soon to start our bungalow build.  The design has a apex window feature.  I wondered if anyone can recommend a company to go to for supply and design of roof trusses and would they include the apex in the truss design?

See below an image of the roof externally.  It is simple, will be steel or zinc covered seamed roof.

Thank you all in advance.  You are so helpful on this forum.

For that sort of roof you will not be using trusses, but a cut roof hung from a ridge beam.  To get that completely open gable end without a central support pillar will need steels to form the roof line (from which the ridge beam can be supported)

It will be a portal frame ( columns and sloping rafters, either forming the gable glazing opening, or full width, then a ridge beam sits into that.

The timber frame companies that I have come close to have always excluded these frames, which you have to get designed and fitted by others.

The pedestrian door in the gable end doesn't need a frame as the wall can provide the support.

So send it to some suppliers , but expect these exclusions.

They need more information.  ceiling heights (are the ceilings other than the feature entrance going to be at eaves level?) Internal arrangement and whether any walls can (or are intended to)  provide support.

They will ask for any more information they need.
