Been a bit taken aback by the cost of insulated plasterboard in comparison with buying the materials separately. Would some low expansion foam work OK at bonding the PIR to the plasterboard?

Thanks

I did this.

It seemed to work well for me, I did it in 2 stages, stuck the PIR to the walls then stuck the plasterboard to the PIR, its been up for 2 years now with no noticeable problems.

I also put in a few long screws through the plasterboard and PIR into a solid substrate for extra security.

I see so do it on the wall. I had it in my head of making it up first but doing doing in 2 stages makes sense. To be fair I have just had a more reasonable quote than initial pricing so we will see. Thanks

I'm not a fan of insulated plasterboard. I like a proper vapour barrier in there.

I did adhere some PIR to 12mm ply for a "warm room" in my loft. PU foam glue clamped between a couple of boards and left overnight. Worked very well.

Yes that way you can also foil tape the joints in the PIR (and fill any gaps in the joints with expanding foam!) to give you a vapour barrier as well
