Hi,

I recently had flashband tape replaced with code 4 lead flashing on my garage roof as the old tape was allowing water in, but on completion I wasn’t anticipating the new lead flashing to track so high up the wall. Is this standard height?

It looks ugly to me especially as the old flashband tape (although inferior) was previously unnoticeable (see photos).

What would be the best low maintenance way to make the lead flashing more aesthetic I.e less visible on the wall?

I was thinking about having it rendered over, or painted same colour as exterior wall?

Thanks for your warm expressions, Russell 😂

Noted. Just looking for advice as I am not a roofer and would like a professional second opinion.

It looks 'right' to me, not wrong - but what goes on at the LHS? 'Residual flashband' or just some more patinated lead?

Thanks noted. It’s more lead. Not sure why it’s a different colour from the rest. I didn’t notice it at the time it was fitted so I didn’t ask the roofer.

The roofer will lightly have had to tuck the lead in between two courses in the brickwork so maybe have come a little higher than you expected. It's probable they did a proper job on it though.

It looks completely normal to me, and if you hadn't highlighted it, I doubt most of us picky self builders would even have noticed.

To miss quote Shawshank Redemption.

"I mean, seriously, how often do you look at a man's roof?"

Live with it for 6 months. Then you can either change it or paint it. I guarantee you won't, you'll have forgotten all about it.

Great advice 👌

Thanks Iceverge, and thank you all.

It’s great to know the flashing was done as expected. I will give it some time and I’m sure my OCD will subside by then.
