crispy Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Evening all. I've joined the site to pick your collective brains on upgrading my garage. The gist is I'm starting with a large single base and want to extend it on three sides and assemble the concrete panels I've already bought, add a roof and upgrade the electrics for some home car tinkering. Ttfn Chris 1
Nickfromwales Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Hi and welcome. Â If somebody on here can't think of a way to do it, it can't be done lol Â
crispy Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 Hi, thanks for the welcome. I've posted a couple of questions in different areas, so just sitting back and waiting for the gold!

Super_Paulie Posted February 3 Posted February 3 guy who used to live over the road from me built a detached garage and had 2 Cosworths in it. Always on YouTube tinkering with them, dont see them very often these days. 2
crispy Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 I've almost finished a Vauxhall Chevette group 4 clone, and will be doing track days and some competition with it. It's also going to be my space for some work jobs - bodyshell repairs and rally car prep. 1

crispy Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 But it has a bit of a troubled history  Nice car! Although that does look like quite a project, I hope it's progressed a bit since that last photo!  Mine took long enough, 10+ years in between life etc 🙄. And I started with quite a good car! It does go quite well. Same weight as std 1256, but with 200bhp 😎  1

Although that does look like quite a project, I hope it's progressed a bit since that last photo!  Some progress - the barn that it was stored in burnt down around it - front end was so soft I had to cut it away  Shell has been shot blasted and etch primered - gathered an awful lot of parts for it over the last few years but retirement is still a few years away and other cars* keep me busy   17 minutes ago, crispy said: Mine took long enough, 10+ years in between life etc 🙄. crispy Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 "*other cars" 😄 blimey the LC should be enough for anyone! Definite bucket list car for me. Closest I've been to one was a track day bitd at Goodwood when two came past me at about 135.  1

marshian Posted February 6 Posted February 6 1 hour ago, jack said:  Lotus Carlton. Now that's an interesting car.  Is that at a hillclimb, rally, or something else?  That picture was at Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb  It's mainly a road car but it gets used for sprints, hill climbs, track days, navigation rallies and of course European road trips - it however the tattiest LC in existence because of that - it's also the last one ever built by lotus but that's a story all on it's own.........   The montage below was from a "year in the life of an LC" - I'm not precious about it - it's a car not a museum piece - I hate show and shine but it has done a few over the years - prefer to use it as intended - I've owned it for 24 years (bit of a love hate relationship and I'm never sure who is actually the abusive partner)   Also might have been abused by someone else for a TV show   3
jack Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Awesome stuff. Â He was really giving it the beans in the video. Hope they paid you for the rear tyre wear!
marshian Posted February 6 Posted February 6 14 minutes ago, jack said: Awesome stuff. Â He was really giving it the beans in the video. Hope they paid you for the rear tyre wear! Â The BBC covered the cost of a full set of tyres, a set of brake discs and a new clutch....... Â Just to clarrify - I purchased it direct from Lotus a year later (following a sealed bid auction process - which I didn't actually initially win) as part of a "fire sale" of all the Lotus "collection" Â Like I said the car has an interesting history - looked at from completely honest perspective you could probably say that technically it's not even a real one as it was not part of the original run of 950. 3

LOL.  It's all gone to hell in a hand cart here   In other news, my battery just snuffed it on my car.....praise the lord for offspring, the car I bought them, and then trying to convince them to get out from behind the gaming PC and come and dig me out of the crap.  New thread tomorrow will be "where the (expletive deleted) is the battery hidden in my GLS63". Answers on a postcard, please.
crispy Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 "where the (expletive deleted) is the battery hidden in my GLS63". Dr Google usually has the answers. As well as many opinions on why you should not need to change it, or the battery on their car is in a totally different place cos it's a different car 😆
