Cresswelle Posted January 23 Posted January 23 So I’m in the process of getting BC sign off and having a mare due to parting ways with our awful builder. Has to get various people to help get us across the line but BC have said we need fire doors on all habitable rooms (7) in total. Annoying as not mentioned by previous builder and BC obvs not bothered and it’s hard to get 100% clarity. we have a builder friend who lives close who suggested a slim fire doors and channeling out of the existing frame to fit the strips which would still be costly but will this even get sign off as I thought frames had to be FD rated too? we had a joiner quote and he’s suggesting channeling out the door and fitting the strip to the door. I’m so confused as ideally don’t wanna replace frames as they are original to the house and the cost of putting everything back to normal is crazy. Any suggestions?

I’ve a friend that’s recently finished there third and last self build He to employed an iddiot builder Who had wrongly assumed that the third floor wasn’t habitable Fire doors wasn’t needed After a few conversations with BC they where will to except a fireproof paint on the GF doors Entirely up to BC Check with BC before Hawking the casings out It will be a pig of a job and May not be acceptable 1
Cresswelle Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 Yeah I’d asked BC about paint and they quoted a company but new builder spoke to them and he thinks it’s not a goer. I may speak to them myself and BC
