You must be pleased at the speed it’s coming along.

Ermmm, No. Far from it. The term glacial springs to mind.

I thought I'd jump back on here and stumbled across this thread.  I'm a fair way into my self-build, but I'd be keen on meeting up with you guys in mid-Suffolk next time.

Ah, welcome back @GaryChaplin how's your build going?

On the subject of new people, I'm seeing a small number of local applications approved for self-build, maybe half-a-dozen in East Suffolk in 2025 - should I contact them?

Going well thanks, it's just so time consuming as I'm attempting to do everything myself, which I've took a little too far. e.g, turning trees into flooring and doors!

Looks like your frame is going together at last.

The frame was by Carpenter Oak - I was really impressed. As we did the floor brackets ourselves and laid them out and levelled them exactly, the whole frame went up in 2 days and was super-straight.

Yeah, that would slow you down. You have your own sawmill?

Good choice, Carpenter Oak have been established for ages, highly reputable. I guess you were going for an un-cluttered look and hence the metalwork for lateral bracing?

Yeah, we thought we would try and be a bit more modern than traditional braces. You're IP14 from memory? Want to join us at our next meet?

Well as you asked so nicely @Alan Ambrose how about the 11th.....can't do this week as screed going down.

Would still need torches if want a site visit as minimal lighting available!

We can do the 11th as long as we are back by 10:30pm to lock up the village hall so leaving at 10pm.

We are IP17 so Woody would be best for us.

I'm free on the 11th at the moment.

I'm cheap, oh so cheap, but not quite free.

But J and I are available on the 11th so it’s game on!

Apologies yet again. I won’t be able to join you. Paid work getting in the way but unfortunately necessary to keep the project on track. On a positive note, plastering underway and kitchen onsite :)

Hi Jill, we're a bit thin on the ground....would seem more sensible to do after Christmas?

It would be good to keep the ball rolling, but a bit more light in the evenings will help.

If your around though, before the next meet, pop your head in if you want, there most days.

Hi Geoff, thanks, I'm not around much in the day, but if I happen to be in Woody then I'll stick my head in.

Hope everything is going well and progressing as wanted.

Have a great Xmas and see you soon.
