GaryChaplin Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I thought I'd jump back on here and stumbled across this thread. I'm a fair way into my self-build, but I'd be keen on meeting up with you guys in mid-Suffolk next time.Â
Alan Ambrose Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 Ah, welcome back @GaryChaplin how's your build going?  On the subject of new people, I'm seeing a small number of local applications approved for self-build, maybe half-a-dozen in East Suffolk in 2025 - should I contact them?

Alan Ambrose Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 The frame was by Carpenter Oak - I was really impressed. As we did the floor brackets ourselves and laid them out and levelled them exactly, the whole frame went up in 2 days and was super-straight. Â Â
Alan Ambrose Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 (edited) >>> turning trees into flooring and doors!  Yeah, that would slow you down. You have your own sawmill? Edited November 13 by Alan Ambrose

Good choice, Carpenter Oak have been established for ages, highly reputable. I guess you were going for an un-cluttered look and hence the metalwork for lateral bracing?
Alan Ambrose Posted November 14 Author Posted November 14 Yeah, we thought we would try and be a bit more modern than traditional braces. You're IP14 from memory? Want to join us at our next meet?
