GaryChaplin Posted Wednesday at 07:30 Posted Wednesday at 07:30 I thought I'd jump back on here and stumbled across this thread. I'm a fair way into my self-build, but I'd be keen on meeting up with you guys in mid-Suffolk next time.Â
Alan Ambrose Posted yesterday at 11:37 Author Posted yesterday at 11:37 Ah, welcome back @GaryChaplin how's your build going?  On the subject of new people, I'm seeing a small number of local applications approved for self-build, maybe half-a-dozen in East Suffolk in 2025 - should I contact them?

Alan Ambrose Posted yesterday at 17:32 Author Posted yesterday at 17:32 The frame was by Carpenter Oak - I was really impressed. As we did the floor brackets ourselves and laid them out and levelled them exactly, the whole frame went up in 2 days and was super-straight. Â Â
Alan Ambrose Posted yesterday at 17:33 Author Posted yesterday at 17:33 (edited) >>> turning trees into flooring and doors!  Yeah, that would slow you down. You have your own sawmill? Edited yesterday at 17:33 by Alan Ambrose

Good choice, Carpenter Oak have been established for ages, highly reputable. I guess you were going for an un-cluttered look and hence the metalwork for lateral bracing?
Alan Ambrose Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago Yeah, we thought we would try and be a bit more modern than traditional braces. You're IP14 from memory? Want to join us at our next meet?
